Planned for Marketing

Every video is planned around where it will run and what you want viewers to do next.

How to Prepare for a Shoot and Get More From Every Video

A good video is mostly decided before the camera comes out. Here is how we plan a shoot, what we ask you to prepare and how we judge whether a video did its job.

Before the Shoot

  • One goal per video. Book a call, request a quote or visit a page. A video that tries to say everything usually says nothing clearly.
  • Know where it will run. A streaming TV spot, a vertical reel and a home page video need different lengths and framing.
  • Choose who is on camera. Owners and staff who know the work often come across better than a scripted actor.
  • Get permission early. Customers in testimonials, people at events and property owners should sign releases before filming day.

On Shoot Day

Pick a quiet location and clear clutter from the frame. Solid colors work better on camera than small patterns or busy logos.

Plan for more footage than the main video needs. We film extra clips, close-ups and photos so one shoot can produce a full video, several short cuts for social and stills for your website.

After the Shoot

We put the main point and your name in the first few seconds, because many viewers leave early. Captions go on every version, since a lot of people watch with the sound off.

Common Mistakes

  • Scripts written to be read, not spoken, which sound stiff on camera
  • A slow opening with logos and music before anything happens
  • No clear next step at the end
  • A video sent to a home page instead of a page built for the offer

How We Measure Progress

Views alone do not tell you much. We look at how long people watch, how many click and what they do after they land on your site, such as calls and form fills. For commercials, we compare lead volume and website visits during and after the campaign.

Who This Fits

Video works best when you have a place to run it, such as ads, a social calendar or a sales process that uses it. If you only want a video to sit on your website, we will help you decide if that is the right spend.
